Yusuke Urameshi is the toughest kid at Sarioshiki Junior High. But with an irresponsible mother, and teachers that hate him, life isn't going too good. Everyone says he's scum. He'll never make anything of himself.  But one event turns his life -and afterlife - around. He pushes a child out of the way of an oncoming car and dies.  He meeets Botan, a happy-go-lucky grim reaper, who pretty much tells him his death was in vain. In order to avoid the paperwork and hassle that comes with admiting someone into the spirit realm, Koenma, king of the dead, helps him recover his life.  Through a long and perilous trial, Yusuke finally returns to the living world, but he discovers he has a heightened sixth sense. Koenma then forces him into the role of spirit detective. Now a paranormal policeman, Yusuke has a future ahead of him.
